The Pinnunziatos have extended their stay in New York City! My Big Gay Italian Wedding and its sequel, My Big Gay Italian Funeral, will now play at off-Broadway’s St. Luke’s Theatre through December 29. The shows, directed by Teresa A. Cicala and written by Anthony J. Wilkinson, both star the playwright as Anthony Pinnunziato.
Based loosely on Wilkinson’s real-life family, My Big Gay Italian Wedding tells the story of Anthony (Wilkinson), a gay Italian-American from a large, chaotic family who wants to marry his boyfriend Andrew (Brandon Goins) in a traditional wedding ceremony. In My Big Gay Italian Funeral, the family is back, and this time, Anthony also reunites with his long-lost gay brother Peter (Brian Patrick Murphy).
In addition to Wilkinson, Wedding and Funeral both star Brett Douglas, Donna Castellano, Marissa Perry, Debra Toscano, Liz Gerecitano, Meagan Robar, Erik Ransom, Chad Kessler, Brandon Goins, Joe Scanio, Jody Lyn Flynn, Marie Fontaine and Jonathan Wiener. Wedding also stars Nick Varrichio and Paul Moon, while Funeral stars Murphy, Mustafa Gatollari and Beth Dzuricky.
